Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives in Israel on Wednesday for a two-day visit viewed by both nations as an opportunity to solidify ties, amid growing regional fears of a potential military conflict between the United States and Iran.

Modi, a Hindu nationalist, became the first Indian prime minister to visit Israel in 2017—a trip famously marked by a barefoot stroll with right-wing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on a beach in the coastal city of Haifa. Nearly nine years later, both leaders remain in power and continue to describe each other as friends.
Focus on Defense and AI
The two leaders are expected to hold talks focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and defense, as Israel seeks to expand its military exports. An Israeli government official stated that the visit "will pave the way for new partnerships and cooperation across several sectors." An official from the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that bilateral relations are on the cusp of a major transformation.
Official Agenda
During his visit, Modi is scheduled to:
Address the Knesset: Deliver a speech before the Israeli parliament.
Yad Vashem Visit: Lay a wreath at Israel’s official memorial to the victims of the Holocaust.
