Israeli forces early Tuesday launched a large-scale military raid on the town of Anata and Shuafat refugee camp northeast of occupied Jerusalem, imposing a curfew and closing entrances to the area, while arresting dozens of Palestinians and raiding homes and commercial establishments, according to sources cited by the Palestinian news agency WAFA.

The sources said Israeli military vehicles and bulldozers accompanied the forces during the raid, which saw troops deployed across neighborhoods and streets in Anata and Shuafat refugee camp. The entrances were closed, preventing residents from entering or leaving the area.
The forces raided and searched a number of homes, shops and private properties, forcing open the doors of some establishments and causing damage to their contents, the sources said. They also conducted field interrogations of several detainees.

As part of the operation, Israeli bulldozers, under military protection, began excavating major water lines in Anata, threatening to disrupt water supplies to residents, while entrances to the town and refugee camp remained closed.

The Jerusalem Governorate described the developments in Anata and Shuafat refugee camp as a “systematic military aggression,” saying that the closure of entrances, imposition of a curfew, home raids, arrests and targeting of water lines constitute an escalation affecting civilians, their property and essential services.
