AMMAN — Dozens of extremist Jewish settlers stormedthe Al-Aqsa Mosque complex in occupied East Jerusalem early on Thursday, the
first day of the holy month of Ramadan, local news outlets reported.
The Jerusalem Islamic Waqf Department said in a statement
that the settlers entered Al-Aqsa from the Mughrabi Gate under the protection
of the Israeli police, who restricted Muslim worshipers’ access to the mosque.

The settlers toured the Al-Aqsa courtyards and performed
Talmudic rituals in a “provocative fashion”, according to the statement.
Meanwhile, the Israeli police forces guarding the settler groups searched Muslim worshipers and checked their identity cards.
