Dr. Ebrahim Motaghi, an Iranian expert on U.S. affairs, stated that Israel and the United States are expected to resume military operations against Iran within the next week at most.

In an analysis broadcast on Iranian state TV and radio on Sunday, Motaghi commented on the current ceasefire, saying:
“Each country interprets the ceasefire differently… For Israel and the U.S., it is a means to regroup and enhance operational capabilities. Meanwhile, Iran generally leans toward peace, and if no aggression occurs, it is willing to pursue measures that would uphold the ceasefire.”
He continued:
“But the key question remains: will Israel and the U.S. stay committed to this arrangement? Based on my analysis and available evidence, Israel is likely to resume operations—with tactical, operational, and field support from the United States—within a week at most.”
Motaghi warned that Iran’s social, bureaucratic, and military institutions should not take the U.S. and Israeli-requested ceasefire at face value.
“A surprise attack in a second wave could target senior officials, sensitive institutions, and strategic infrastructure,” he added.
He stressed the need for Iran's defense infrastructure to enter a new technological phase, including cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, microtronics, and target dispersion strategies.
“The greatest mistake would be to assume the enemy is backing down,” Motaghi said. “We must move beyond naïve optimism and understand both the enemy and ourselves.”
Separately, Iranian political analyst Majid Abbasi warned against allowing the current ceasefire to become an opportunity for the enemy to regroup.
He emphasized the importance of restoring cybersecurity, controlling cyberspace and the national internet, and expelling international inspectors in preparation for future hybrid warfare.
