The U.S. military said on Thursday it had completed its latest round of airstrikes against Iran, carried out under the direction of President Donald Trump, marking the 12th consecutive night of military operations.
In a statement, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said the mission will continue to further degrade Iran’s ability to threaten civilian mariners and commercial vessels transiting regional waters.
Iranian media reported hearing explosions near the southern city of Bushehr, as tensions between Washington and Tehran continued to escalate over the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that Tehran would respond to any attack on its infrastructure, saying that “any aggression against Iran will be met with a strong and decisive response,” and that any parties contributing to such attacks would be considered legitimate targets.
In related regional developments, the Bahraini military announced that it had intercepted Iranian attacks, while Kuwait said it had shot down drones launched from Iran.
The Kuwaiti military said its air defenses had intercepted what it described as hostile Iranian drones, while Iran stated that it would continue responding to U.S. attacks by launching missiles and drones against sites it says are linked to the United States.
