In a statement today, Sunday, on the occasion of the 108th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration, the Arab Parliament emphasized that no plan or political initiative for the future of Gaza or the Palestinian territories can be accepted unless Palestinians retain full authority, presence, and management over their land.

The statement described the Balfour Declaration as one of the most unjust decisions in modern history, granting to those who had no rightful claim what they did not deserve, thereby establishing the prolonged suffering of the Palestinian people to this day and paving the way for the ongoing policies of occupation, displacement, and aggression against Palestinians, their lands, holy sites, and legitimate rights.

Al-Yamahi noted that the recent signing of the Sharm El-Sheikh ceasefire agreement represents an important step toward halting aggression in Gaza, but stressed that this step will only be complete with the immediate and effective commencement of reconstruction and rebuilding of the areas destroyed by the machinery of war.

He welcomed the United Kingdom’s recent recognition of the State of Palestine and urged other countries, particularly in Europe, to follow suit, lift the injustices against Palestinians, and fully recognize their state with Jerusalem as its capital, in support of justice, international legitimacy, and human rights.

The Arab Parliament also called for the urgent delivery of humanitarian, relief, and medical aid to Gaza without restrictions or obstacles, given the unprecedented humanitarian crisis affecting more than two million Palestinians, holding Israel fully responsible both legally and morally for the continued blockade and obstruction of aid.

Al-Yamahi affirmed that despite the calamities, massacres, displacement, wars, and sieges faced by the Palestinian people, they remain steadfast on their land, firmly holding to their inalienable rights. He reiterated that the Palestinian cause remains the foremost and central Arab issue, and that the Arab Parliament will continue to support and stand by the Palestinian people and their just cause until they achieve all their legitimate rights, foremost among them the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital.
