In its monthly report, the Syndicate detailed the violations as follows:
2 Killings.
12 Cases of detention and prevention of coverage.
8 Cases of direct targeting with gas and sound bombs.
8 Cases of physical assault (beating).
7 Cases of confiscation or destruction of journalistic equipment.
6 Arrests.
4 Raids on journalists' homes.
2 Cases of verbal threats and 2 cases of interrogation.
The committee stated that the targeting of Palestinian journalists—including killing, arrest, and physical assault—falls within an "escalating pattern of gross violations" that it described as serious crimes. The Syndicate warned of a "dangerous and systematic" escalation aimed at silencing Palestinian voices and undermining press freedom, especially amidst rising violations against civilians.
Calls for International Protection
The PJS urged the international community, the United Nations, the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), and human rights organizations to take immediate practical steps to protect Palestinian journalists, launch independent international investigations, and hold those responsible for these violations accountable.
