Governor Hasan Şıldak, who visited the scene, informed reporters that twelve individuals are currently receiving medical treatment.
Şıldak added that the attacker, a former student at the school born in 2007, shot himself and has died.
The Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), citing the Governor’s office, reported that the injured include ten high school students and four teachers; their current conditions were not disclosed.
According to the private Turkish news agency Demirören (DHA) and several other Turkish media outlets, the attacker was armed with a hunting rifle.
Images broadcast by local media showed high school students fleeing the school, with a large police presence, at least one armored vehicle, and multiple ambulances deployed at the site.
An eyewitness told the private Turkish news agency IHA that the attacker "initially fired randomly in the courtyard, and then inside the building."
This type of incident is relatively rare in Turkey, though estimates from a local foundation suggest there are tens of millions of firearms in circulation, most of which are illegal.
