Temperatures are expected to rise gradually starting Thursday as a hot air mass begins affecting Jordan, reaching its peak on Saturday and bringing hot conditions to most parts of the Kingdom and extremely hot weather to the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, Aqaba and desert areas.
The Jordan Meteorological Department said temperatures will rise slightly during the day on Thursday, with relatively hot weather prevailing across most regions and extremely hot conditions in the desert areas, Jordan Valley, Dead Sea and Aqaba. Moderate northwesterly winds are expected, becoming active at times. At night, temperatures will be moderate in most areas and relatively hot in the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea and Aqaba.
Maximum and minimum temperatures are forecast to range between 36°C and 25°C in eastern Amman, 34°C and 22°C in western Amman, 32°C and 19°C in the northern highlands, 33°C and 18°C in the Sharah highlands, 40°C and 23°C in the desert areas, and 36°C and 22°C in the plains.
Temperatures are expected to range between 42°C and 27°C in the northern Jordan Valley, 45°C and 30°C in the southern Jordan Valley, 44°C and 29°C at the Dead Sea, and 43°C and 28°C in the Gulf of Aqaba.
Temperatures will continue to rise slightly on Friday, bringing hot weather to most parts of the Kingdom and extremely hot conditions to the desert areas, Jordan Valley, Dead Sea and Aqaba. Winds will be moderate northeasterly to northwesterly, becoming active at times. At night, the weather will remain moderate across most regions and relatively hot in the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea and Aqaba.

The Meteorological Department said hot weather will persist on Sunday across most parts of the Kingdom, while extremely hot conditions will continue in the desert areas, Jordan Valley, Dead Sea and Aqaba. Moderate northwesterly winds are expected, becoming active at times. At night, temperatures will be moderate in most areas and relatively hot in the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea and Aqaba.
According to the department, this is the first hot air mass of the current summer to cause a clear and noticeable rise in temperatures, following a period of relatively typical summer weather. Its impact is expected to continue until the middle of next week.
The department urged the public to avoid direct exposure to sunlight, particularly during midday hours, and to drink plenty of fluids to prevent heat exhaustion. It also warned against leaving children or elderly people inside closed vehicles under any circumstances.
It further called on the public to avoid lighting fires in forested areas and open spaces due to the high temperatures and increased risk of wildfires.
