The Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) forecast a slight rise in temperatures on Tuesday, though they will remain below seasonal averages. The weather will be cold across most regions and mild in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba, with a chance of light rain showers in the morning over northern and central parts of the Kingdom.
The JMD said temperatures will drop further at night with the formation of fog, warning of reduced horizontal visibility and the possibility of frost over the high Sharah Mountains.
Maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to range between 11–7°C in East Amman, 9–5°C in West Amman, 9–4°C in the northern highlands, 8–2°C in the Sharah highlands, 17–6°C in the Badia regions, 12–7°C in the plains, 18–12°C in the northern Jordan Valley, 23–11°C in the southern Jordan Valley, 21–12°C at the Dead Sea, and 23–13°C in the Gulf of Aqaba.
The department warned of reduced visibility due to fog formation over mountainous areas, plains, and parts of the Badia during the morning and nighttime hours, as well as the likelihood of frost during the early morning and late night hours over the high Sharah Mountains.
On Wednesday, temperatures will rise slightly again, while the weather remains cold in most areas, with continued warnings of morning fog and frost during early morning and late night hours over the Sharah highlands.
According to the JMD report, the Kingdom will be affected on Thursday by a cold and moist air mass associated with a weather depression centered north of Cyprus. Temperatures will drop, and the weather will be cold and partly to mostly cloudy, with rainfall over northern parts of the Kingdom and parts of the eastern regions, extending in the evening to central areas. Rainfall may be heavy at times overnight in northern Jordan, accompanied by thunderstorms and hail, along with active winds that may raise dust in the Badia regions. The JMD warned of the risk of flash floods and reduced visibility.
On Friday, the weather will remain cold and partly to occasionally mostly cloudy, with intermittent light rain showers over western parts of the Kingdom, before gradually stabilizing in the evening, with a chance of fog formation.
The Jordan Meteorological Department urged the public to exercise caution, particularly while driving in areas affected by fog or rainfall, and to stay away from valleys and areas where rainwater may accumulate.
