Jordan’s karate star Al-Masatfa qualifies for Olympic semifinal

AMMAN — Jordan’s chances of winning an Olympic gold have shot up, with karate star Abdul Rahman Al-Masatfa scoring four consecutive victories on Thursday, according to Al-Ghad news. The Jordanian Olympic Committee stated that Al-Masatfa has qualified for the semifinal, which automatically guarantees him one of three Olympic medals. Al-Masatfa will compete again at 2:00pm today, and winning will qualify him for the final, where he could snatch an Olympic silver or gold. So far, Saleh Al-Sharbati, Jordan’s taekwondo fighter, has been the only Jordanian to clinch a medal at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
