If you are looking to boost the scent or style of your home, look no further: Candles are your all-in-one answer.

Universally loved for their ambiance-enhancing properties, candles are the best accessory to complement the style of your interiors. Whether you want to maintain a specific scent that brings joy to your home or create visual aesthetics with the help of some sculptural and decorative candles, there is certainly a DIY or store-bought option for you.اضافة اعلان

To focus more on the atmosphere, consider the scent of your candles. Soft and inviting scents — such as vanilla — are perfect for creating a relaxed mood, whereas sharper scents — such as orange or jasmine — are more refreshing and light. Specific candles can even complement seasons of the year, with Christmas scents like pine and cinnamon being hugely popular during the winter months.

When thinking about scented candles for the home, luxury products may immediately come to mind. Brands such as Diptyque and Jo Malone have established themselves as leaders of the perfume and candle world, selling unique and lavish scents with price tags to match. These brands provide an excellent starting point if you want to indulge in a top-quality candle purchase. With a wide range of scents and beautifully crafted packaging, they provide both scent and style.

Having worked in luxury beauty retail in the past, I have always been a supporter of Diptyque candles. The Parisian parfumiers deal with delicate, expertly crafted scents and put equal thought into the aesthetics of the candles themselves, which come in minimal yet artistic packaging.

To avoid breaking your bank account for a scented candle, there are several beauty and home stores with equally enjoyable offerings. L’Occitane has a range of fresh scents made with excellent quality oils. Smell for yourself in L’Occitane stores in Abdali, Taj, and Albaraka Mall.

After purchasing a scented candle, it is essential to look after it correctly to maximize its lifespan. When you first light the candle, leave it burning for at least a few hours. This allows the entirety of the top to burn, ensuring an even burn throughout the rest of the candle. Keep an eye on the wick and trim it if it appears longer than three to five millimeters. Any additional length will lead the candle to blacken when lit, which releases soot and smoke.

Design is equally as important as scent when deliberating over a purchase. Design lovers have adorned their spaces with carefully curated sculptural candles that complement their interior aesthetics. Many have been inspired by the light, summery colors, and fluid shapes of Scandinavian candle products.

One of the stores that pioneered and popularised the scandi-chic style is Danish brand Fabrek (@fabrek_), which was catapulted to fame when featured on Gen Z icon Matilda Djerf’s Instagram (@matildadjerf). Fabrek offers the twisted and reshaped candles you may have seen posted on interior design pages. Fabrek crafts amorphous, candy-colored candles that add a sense of fun to any space.

While some people have endeavored to make their own artistic candles with mold and pouring kits, I would advise making the basic twisted candle that became popular on TikTok last year. Twisted candles are regal and make a great addition to your dining table. They are easy to create at home and an affordable way to enhance your candle collection. If you have not come across a tutorial, follow these basic steps to create your own:

1. Purchase a pack of taper candles in your favorite color from a homeware store (IKEA has a great variety) or online.

2. Submerge your candles in a dish or glass of warm water for around 15 minutes to soften the wax.

3. Carefully remove your candle from the water. It should be soft, pliable, and ready for shaping. You can achieve the twisted look via one of two methods: flattening the candle to achieve a sharper spiral or twisting it straight away. If you would rather flatten, use a rolling pin or the side of a jar to compress the candle lightly but make sure to leave two inches un-flattened at the base so it can fit in a holder. If you opt for the second option, use your hands to start twisting and reshaping right away.

4. To solidify your design, run your reformed candle under cold water. This resets the wax, leaving you with a ready-to-use funky new candle!

Whether by their perfume, appearance, or both, candles undoubtedly provide the easiest way to enhance the personality of your home. The most important factor is enjoying your choices and displaying your candles for all to see.
