This achievement was fueled by the exceptional performance of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which earned a record-breaking $360 million in its North American opening and reached $932 million worldwide during its first weekend. The film is expected to surpass the $1 billion mark soon, making it the highest-grossing movie of 2026.
Holland also benefited from the success of The Odyssey, directed by Christopher Nolan, in which he stars. The film has grossed $911 million globally, helping Universal Pictures surpass $4 billion in worldwide box office revenue in 2026.
Holland began his acting career at the age of 12 on London's West End stage before making his film debut in The Impossible (2012).
His breakthrough came in 2016, when he was cast as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War, becoming the youngest actor ever to portray the superhero in a feature film.
The Spider-Man franchise continued its impressive box office success:
Spider-Man: Homecoming grossed approximately $880 million worldwide.
Spider-Man: Far From Home earned more than $1.13 billion globally.
Spider-Man: No Way Home finished its theatrical run with $1.9 billion in worldwide revenue, making it one of the highest-grossing films in cinema history.
Industry observers attribute Holland's success to his focus on blockbuster franchises and mainstream entertainment rather than pursuing awards-driven roles.
Meanwhile, his wife, actress Zendaya, continues her own remarkable success, ranking as the second highest-grossing actress under 30, with total worldwide box office earnings approaching $6 billion.
