Initial projections indicate the film could pull in between $90 million and $100 million during its opening weekend, with the potential to exceed these estimates if current turnout rates hold, making it the third film this year to cross the $100 million opening threshold.
The Odyssey is Nolan's first project following the massive success of Oppenheimer, which opened with $10.5 million in previews before grossing $975 million globally and winning the Academy Award for Best Picture.
Based on the epic poem by the Greek poet Homer, the film follows the Greek hero Odysseus on his journey back to his homeland of Ithaca after the end of the Trojan War. The film stars Matt Damon, alongside Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, and Jon Bernthal.
