Visitors find Bireen and Al-Alouk forests an ideal destination for Friday and Saturday outings, where the area transforms into a natural masterpiece of lush greenery and fresh spring air, reflecting the harmony between the weekend and Jordan’s natural beauty.

Ahmed Al-Fraheid, Head of Bireen Municipality Committee, told Petra that this large turnout carries a shared national responsibility to preserve the environmental wealth. The municipality distributed waste bags at key recreational sites to encourage cleanliness and is conducting intensive cleaning campaigns in coordination with official authorities and the local community, ensuring the area remains attractive while preserving its ecological assets that support sustainable development.

Al-Fraheid urged visitors to cooperate with the municipality in protecting this natural heritage by maintaining public facilities, refraining from lighting fires near ancient trees, and not littering. Awareness campaigns will continue alongside ongoing cleaning efforts.

He also highlighted the municipality’s plan to implement a tourist cable car project connecting the district’s main natural sites, offering a unique experience for visitors. Preliminary designs for the project have been prepared in collaboration with Zarqa Private University.

Al-Fraheid explained that bids will be invited for the project after completing the necessary technical and financial studies, noting that it will represent a significant advancement in the area’s tourism infrastructure and strengthen its position as a key domestic tourism destination.

Meanwhile, Hussein Al-Khalidi, Director of Zarqa Agriculture, confirmed the activity of agricultural patrols in Bireen forests across Al-Alouk, Sarout, Al-Makman, and Al-Kamsha areas to protect the forests. Forestry staff monitor forested areas around the clock, and citizens are urged to report any violations.
