The project, implemented by the Najmat Al-Karak recycling foundation with a grant from the Canadian MEDA Foundation, includes the process of recycling plastic waste produced as a result of the agricultural process in Karak and the southern, central and northern Jordan Valley regions, with the aim of stopping the burning of waste that leads to environmental pollution.

Al-Masarweh said that the Ministry of Environment has worked towards developing legislation aimed at improving the environment in Karak, specifically related to problems resulting from the agricultural process, such as pests and various agricultural wastes. The Ministry of Agriculture also noted that figures indicate that 90 percent of livestock fatalities are caused by eating plastic waste.

Ambassador Potti said she hopes the project will contribute to more sustainable development, stressing the importance of working to reduce the production of plastic waste.
