Scientist Abbas Haddadin discovered the oldest insect caught in the oldest spider web dating back 140 million years in Jordanian amber. Spider threads contain a sticky substance in the form of balls to which insects adhere.
The presence of an insect caught in a spider web in Jordanian amber indicates that spiders knew how to weave their webs to catch insects 140 million years ago.
