UNHCR receives only 51% of required budget by December 8

AMMAN — According to a report issued by UNHCR, 51 percent of the financial requirements for 2022 in Jordan have been received so far, Al-Mamlaka TV reported. The UNHCR required approximately $408.4 million for 2022 in Jordan; of this, it had received about $206.6 million by December 8, a 49 percent financial gap, amounting to $202 million. Jordan has been hosting more than 1.3 million Syrians since the beginning of the Syrian crisis in 2011; of these, 669,483 are registered with the UNHCR. The organization said that 757,881 refugees of all nationalities were registered with it until the end of November, excluding Palestinian refugees. As for donor countries, since the beginning of the year, the US has provided $89.8 million in support to UNHCR in Jordan, followed by Germany with $50.3 million, the Netherlands with $17.6 million, the EU with $12 million and the UK with $7 million; other donor countries and international organizations have contributed as well.
