The total value of personal loans in Jordan declined by the end of 2025, reaching JOD 13.951 billion, compared with JOD 14.035 billion at the end of 2024. Housing loans accounted for 41% of the total.

Personal loans ranked as the second-largest category of household debt, totaling JOD 4.450 billion, followed by vehicle loans at JOD 1.901 billion. Consumer loans amounted to approximately JOD 1.090 billion, while credit card debt stood at around JOD 557 million by the end of the fourth quarter of last year.

According to the latest statistics from the Central Bank of Jordan, total credit facilities extended by the banking sector had reached approximately JOD 37.1 billion by the end of May 2026. Of this amount, about JOD 32.612 billion, or 88%, was allocated to the private sector, including both resident and non-resident borrowers.

The latest data also showed that Amman received the largest share of credit facilities by the end of the first quarter of 2026, with a total of JOD 30.141 billion. Irbid ranked second, receiving approximately JOD 1.870 billion in credit facilities.

At the other end of the scale, Tafilah and Ajloun recorded the lowest values of bank credit facilities during the first quarter of the year. Tafilah ranked last with approximately JOD 149 million, followed by Ajloun with around JOD 180 million.
