Financial Reform and Loss Reduction
The report revealed that the financial reform plan successfully achieved a real reduction in energy sector losses for the year 2025, totaling 113 million dinars. This was attributed to the reduction of electrical grid losses and a decrease in operational costs.
This development coincides with the acceleration of strategic projects. The Ministry noted that this performance reflects balanced progress across various energy sectors, alongside ongoing efforts to enhance reliance on renewable energy, develop local resources, and improve financial and operational efficiency.
Green Hydrogen and Infrastructure
The report indicated that the Ministry is currently overseeing 12 green hydrogen production projects in cooperation with international companies. Additionally, an initial report has been issued regarding the development of a shared infrastructure mechanism for hydrogen projects to attract investment and regulate this vital field.
Renewable Energy and Efficiency Progress
Significant progress was noted in projects aimed at clean energy transition and consumption efficiency:
Social Support: Installation has begun on 399 solar systems for underprivileged families, out of a target of 1,086 systems for National Aid Fund beneficiaries.
Infrastructure: 1,611 traditional streetlights were replaced with LED units in Mafraq Governorate as part of the second phase of the energy efficiency program.
Healthcare: A contract was signed to install solar water heating systems in nine government hospitals across the Northern Region.
Remote Areas: Under the "Fils al-Reef" program, 359 applications were approved out of 480 studied. Support also included installing 27 solar systems for wounded military veterans (out of a target of 175) and finalizing designs for municipal projects in the Northern Region.
Exploration and Production (Risha Field)
During the first quarter of 2026, the Ministry continued its efforts in the exploration and production sector:
Drilling: 50% of consultancy agreements for drilling 80 wells in the Risha field have been completed. Actual drilling has commenced for the first 500-meter section of two wells, with work underway on a third.
Production: Three new wells were linked to production lines in the Risha field to boost capacity.
Seismic Surveys: 100% of the work to remove overlaps for 3D seismic surveys in the Jafr area has been completed, and the data processing phase has officially begun.
