The ministry stressed the importance of dealing only with duly licensed offices and complying with legislation regulating tourism professions and activities. It noted that practicing tourism professions and activities and providing related services through websites, applications and digital platforms requires obtaining the necessary approvals in accordance with the Tourism Law and the regulations and instructions issued under it.

Article 9 of the Tourism Law stipulates that the tourism professions and activities specified in the law may only be practiced after obtaining the required approval. Article 21 sets out penalties for violations, which may include imprisonment for no less than six months and no more than one year, a fine of no less than JD3,000 and no more than JD10,000, or both penalties, depending on the cases specified in the article.

The ministry also urged the public to verify the licensing and classification of tourism offices before completing bookings or transferring any money. It said inquiries can be made by contacting the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities at (06) 460 3360, stressing the importance of awareness and prior verification to ensure a safe tourism experience and protect consumers' rights.
