Qatar imports all kinds of dates from Jordan, but mostly Medjool dates, which, in the last few years, have become widely popular and highly demanded in Qatar and other markets in the region.

Jordan exports two kinds of dates to Qatar: Medjool and Barhi. The estimated land size planted with these two types is around 35 square kms aligned with the Jordan Valley all the way to Aqaba.

There are some half a million palm trees in the Kingdom, producing approximately 30,000 tonnes. Most of the production gets shipped to Gulf Arab states, and other Arab and European markets.
