According to a press release from the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, “As part of the national efforts to implement the e-passport project, Jordan's Ambassador to Canada, Ms. Sabah Al-Rafii, represented the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at the ceremony for handing over the Certificate Signing Certification Authority (CSCA) of the Jordanian e-passport to the ICAO Public Key Directory (PKD). The event was also attended by Sylvain Lefoyer, ICAO's Deputy Director of Aviation Security and Facilitation, along with several staff members from the ICAO PKD office.”
On this occasion, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Eng. Sami Samirat, emphasized that uploading Jordan’s CSCA certificate to ICAO’s secure servers will enable member states in the Public Key Directory (PKD) to authenticate Jordanian e-passports. This will enhance automated and direct verification processes and facilitate the travel of Jordanian passport holders through the border crossings of PKD-participating countries.
Samirat added that this step reflects the government’s commitment to advancing digital transformation and providing high-quality digital government services that meet international standards.
It is worth noting that the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, represented by the Ministry of Interior, officially joined ICAO’s Public Key Directory in 2025.
