The Department emphasized the importance of filling out returns with accurate and correct financial data reflecting the actual income of taxpayers during 2025. It urged those who have not yet filed to take advantage of the remaining legal period to avoid prescribed penalties.
Penalties and Fines
The Department clarified that penalties for failing to file a return range between JD 100 and JD 500. Additionally, a late payment fine of 4 per thousand (0.4%) per week will be applied to the amount of tax due or any part thereof.
Who is Obligated to File?
The ISTD stated that the following categories are required to submit tax returns:
Employees and Wage Earners: If annual income exceeds JD 9,000 for single individuals (non-providers) or JD 18,000 for providers (heads of household).
Note: Monthly salary deductions do not exempt an individual from this obligation if their total income exceeds the exemption threshold.
Retirees: If their monthly pension exceeds JD 2,500.
Electronic Filing and Support
Taxpayers are urged not to delay their submissions until the final days of the month to avoid system pressure or delays. Both filing and payment are conducted electronically.
