$2.5b foreign aid given to Jordan — minister

AMMAN —The volume of foreign aid to Jordan this year has reached nearly $2.5 billion, according to Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.اضافة اعلان

Toukan said on Tuesday that the last grant and loan agreements will be signed next month, noting that the private sector and foreign investments have the largest role in implementing capital projects.

She stressed that support for refugees affected the level of aid to Jordan, yet, “we noticed a strong economy in an exceptional circumstance”.

She indicated that empowering the private sector is the focus of the next stage, as there is coordination with a number of donors to push modernization forward.

She also stressed that Jordan’s positive rankings in several indicators is reflected in a better life for citizens.

Toukan said that there will be a donors’ conference next year and that there will be concessional financing.
