Speaking at the Jordanian-German Business Forum organized by the Amman Chamber of Commerce, Al-Qudah emphasized Germany as a key gateway for Jordanian exports to the EU. He noted that Jordanian exports to Syria exceeded 250 million JOD in the first half of this year, the highest in 30 years, marking more than a fourfold increase compared to the same period last year.
Al-Qudah also highlighted the reopening of the Bab al-Hawa crossing linking Syria and Turkey, facilitating re-exports, and stressed ongoing efforts to restore Jordanian exports of fruits and vegetables to Europe to pre-2014 levels. He pointed out that the national economy is experiencing a clear recovery, supported by strong performance across sectors and growing partnerships with friendly countries, particularly Germany.
Minister of Investment Dr. Tariq Abu-Ghazaleh added that Jordan aims to build a strategic partnership with Germany across economic, scientific, and technological fields. He noted that Jordan’s skilled workforce and successful models like the German-Jordanian University present promising opportunities for expansion and investment. He also highlighted Jordan’s progress in renewable energy, now covering 29% of total energy consumption, and expressed ambitions for Jordan to serve as a safe gateway for Syria reconstruction and Iraq development projects.
Joint Business Council and Future Cooperation
The President of the Amman Chamber of Commerce, Khalil Al-Haj Tawfiq, announced the establishment of a Jordan-Germany Joint Business Council with the Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, aiming to strengthen bilateral economic relations. Plans include a Jordanian economic delegation visit to Berlin and other German cities to showcase investment opportunities and expand trade relations.
Al-Haj Tawfiq encouraged German companies to make Jordan a hub for trade and Syrian reconstruction projects, with the German Embassy in Jordan acting as a liaison between private sectors. He expressed optimism for future success stories in Jordanian-German partnerships, similar to the achievements of the German-Jordanian University in Madaba.

Olaf Hofmann, President of the Arab-German Chamber, emphasized Jordan’s strategic potential as a regional hub for European companies, praising King Abdullah II’s vision for an economically stable, skilled, and youth-focused environment. He affirmed Germany’s commitment to deepening mutually beneficial partnerships, citing successful long-term projects in Jordan, including ports and water networks.
The forum also highlighted the German-Jordanian University’s 20-year track record, with partnerships involving 5,000 German companies, focusing on practical education, training, and human capital investment.
The event underlined the strong foundation of Jordan-Germany economic relations, aiming to expand trade, investment, and cooperation across sectors including energy, water, infrastructure, logistics, transport, and industrial development.
