WASHINGTON — New U.S. tariffs on imported goods went into effect on Tuesday, as President Donald Trump seeks to reshape his trade agenda following a Supreme Court ruling that struck down a broad set of global duties he had previously imposed.

These new tariffs, authorized by an executive order signed on Friday, are intended to replace the existing universal duties, as well as those outlined in various trade agreements with most of the United States' major trading partners.
However, these new measures do not replace the so-called "sectoral tariffs," which range from 10% to 50% on several industries—including copper, automobiles, and timber. These specific duties remained unaffected by the Supreme Court's decision.
