This memorandum stems from a shared belief that workers deserve equal opportunities and safe working conditions, and that cooperation between trade unions and civil society organizations represents a powerful force in defending human rights within the Jordanian labor market.

Khaled Al-Fanatsah, President of the GFJTU, stated:

“Signing this memorandum with Adaleh Center is not merely symbolic—it reflects our joint will to build a genuine partnership that promotes a decent working environment for every worker.

We believe that protecting workers—whether Jordanians or migrants—starts with facilitating their access to justice and providing them with legal support, which this memorandum aims to achieve.

We also view this partnership as an opportunity to build the capacities of unionists and workers, and to launch advocacy campaigns that contribute to the development of labor policies and legislation, in a way that achieves social justice.

This step is, above all, an investment in people and in the dignity of work, which we consider the essence of sustainable development.”

On his part, Asim Rababa’a, CEO of the Adaleh Center for Human Rights Studies, affirmed:

“We are proud of this partnership with the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions because it opens up practical avenues to enhance access to justice for all workers—Jordanian and migrant alike—through direct legal support and case follow-up.

We believe that social justice can only be achieved through collaboration between trade unions and civil society organizations.

This memorandum will lead to field research, training, capacity building, and joint advocacy initiatives that contribute to improving the working environment in Jordan.

What unites us is a shared commitment to every worker’s right to dignity, protection, and justice.”

Areas of Cooperation Include:

Legal Support & Referral: Receiving labor-related cases, particularly those involving migrant workers and non-unionized workers, and providing appropriate legal advice and support.

Training & Capacity Building: Organizing workshops and training sessions for unionists, workers, and employer representatives.

Research & Studies: Conducting field and analytical studies to better understand the labor landscape in Jordan and propose practical solutions.

Advocacy & Policy Influence: Launching joint campaigns to influence labor policies and legislation.

Joint Project Development: Submitting initiatives and projects to donors in support of workers’ rights and to strengthen the partnership between both parties.

Through this collaboration, both parties affirm that workers’ rights are not merely a union issue, but a human and societal cause, and that upholding these rights is the foundation for any fair and sustainable development in Jordan.
