Jordanian national exports to the Arab Free Trade Area (AFTA) countries rose 13.9% during the first seven months of 2025, reaching JD 2.214 billion compared to JD 1.943 billion in the same period last year. These exports now constitute 42% of Jordan’s total exports, making the AFTA region the kingdom’s leading trading partner.

Top Export Destinations:
Saudi Arabia: JD 734 million, up 16.1%
Syria: JD 130 million, up 400%
Iraq: JD 525 million, up 11.7%
Collectively, these three countries account for 62.7% of Jordan’s exports to the Arab trade area.
Imports: Jordan’s imports from AFTA countries increased by 7%, totaling JD 3.048 billion compared to JD 2.849 billion in the same period last year.
Trade Balance: The trade deficit with Arab Free Trade Area countries decreased to JD 834 million, down from JD 906 million in the previous year.
Background: The Greater Arab Free Trade Area, established in January 2005, now includes 18 Arab countries. It aims to enhance intra-Arab trade and reduce customs tariffs among member states.
Jordan’s export growth reflects increased trade activity with key regional partners, particularly Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Iraq, contributing to economic integration within the Arab world.
