The Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO) has launched the “Qarar” program in cooperation with the International Trade Centre (ITC), under the “Business Environment Improvement” project. The initiative aims to positively impact trade flows in the Kingdom, enhance the competitiveness of the national economy, attract investment, and ensure the protection of consumer health and safety.

JSMO Director-General, Eng. Abeer Al-Zuheir, stated that the program reflects the organization’s mission to balance consumer protection with trade facilitation, noting that reviewing and redesigning regulatory procedures is a requirement of the Trade Facilitation Agreement. She emphasized that the organization’s staff responsible for import inspections act as the first line of defense for citizen health and safety, while also being active partners in supporting trade.
She described the launch of the “Qarar” program as a qualitative achievement that adds to the record of joint successes between JSMO and the ITC, praising the substantial efforts of the teams on both sides in completing the project efficiently and within a record timeframe.
Raghad Al-Talli, Project Director for Improving the Business Environment for SMEs at the ITC, explained that the program was developed following an in-depth study of challenges and feedback from service recipients regarding regulatory procedures. She emphasized that completing the program in such a short time is a success story for the organization, demonstrating its deep understanding of the importance of applying and adhering to international requirements under the World Trade Organization’s Trade Facilitation Agreement.
Eng. Wafaa Al-Momani, Assistant Director-General for Regulatory Affairs, presented the project, its objectives, and achievements, highlighting the program’s role in simplifying import regulatory procedures while ensuring public health and safety, supporting the investment environment, and strengthening trust among local and international partners.
The ceremony concluded with a reaffirmation of the importance of continued cooperation between JSMO and the ITC and the goal of expanding the program in the future to cover all organizational requirements in line with Jordan’s economic modernization vision.
