Israeli settlers carried out a series of attacks early Tuesday on towns and villages south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank, setting fire to three vehicles, attacking Palestinian homes between the villages of Jalud and Talfit, and damaging part of the electricity network in the town of Madama, according to the Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA).
Bashar Al-Qaryouti, an activist monitoring settlement activities in southern Nablus, said a group of settlers attacked Palestinian homes in the area between Jalud and Talfit and set fire to three vehicles, which were completely destroyed.
He added that the settlers also attempted to set fire to a building, but local residents intervened quickly and prevented the attack from being carried out.
In a separate incident early Tuesday, settlers damaged the electricity network in the town of Madama, south of Nablus.
Madama Village Council head Rami Nassar said settlers from a recently established settlement outpost located between the villages of Beita, Tell, and Madama cut down electricity poles for the second time in a week, destroying part of the local power network and causing outages in sections of the town.
Villages south of Nablus, particularly Jalud, Qaryut, Talfit, Qusra, and Madama, have witnessed an escalation in settler attacks, including arson targeting property, assaults on Palestinians, attacks on homes, and damage to infrastructure and agricultural land. Palestinian officials say the attacks have taken place under the protection of Israeli forces and are part of a broader effort to pressure Palestinians to leave their communities and facilitate the expansion of Israeli settlements.
