A certificate of origin is a document used in international trade to certify that goods included in a particular shipment were produced, manufactured or processed in a specific country. Customs authorities use it to determine the applicable tariff treatment and verify the country of origin of the goods.
The Amman Chamber of Commerce issues certificates of origin for Jordanian agricultural and animal products, raw natural resources, foreign goods being re-exported, and foreign goods purchased from the local market, subject to specific conditions.
The chamber also issues certificates of origin for Jordanian industrial products upon the exporter's request, based on the original factory invoice certified by an industrial chamber, along with an officially certified original certificate of origin issued by an industrial chamber confirming the goods' Jordanian origin.
These procedures are governed by Article 29 of the Jordanian Chambers of Commerce Regulation No. 45 of 2009 and the 2013 Instructions for Issuing Certificates of Origin.
