The Civil Service Consumer Organization (CSCO) confirmed that the government has disbursed 2.5 million JOD to the organization to strengthen its strategic stockpile of essential commodities. This funding aims to enable the CSCO to continue providing food items to citizens at affordable and competitive prices across its 69 markets spread throughout the Kingdom’s governorates and districts.

The Director General of the CSCO, Engineer Essam Al-Jarrah, stated in a press release on Wednesday that this support is part of reinforcing the organization’s role in "positive intervention" within the local market. The goal is to maintain price stability and ensure the availability of basic goods in sufficient quantities to meet citizens' needs.
Al-Jarrah explained that the funds will be allocated to increasing the organization’s inventory of several essential commodities, such as rice, vegetable oils, sugar, flour, frozen meats and fish, legumes, and other grocery staples. This move contributes to enhancing food security and stabilizing prices in the local market.
He emphasized that the CSCO markets continue to operate under a plan that guarantees high-quality goods at reasonable prices—often lower than those in other markets. This aligns with the organization’s socio-economic role in serving citizens and easing their cost-of-living burdens.
Furthermore, Al-Jarrah stressed that the organization will persist in strengthening its strategic stock and offering discounts on various essential items to maintain market balance and provide suitable options for the public. (Petra)
