The White House announced late Monday that U.S. President Donald Trump will attend the group-stage draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be held this Friday in Washington, D.C.اضافة اعلان

White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt told reporters: “President Trump will attend the draw on Friday at the Kennedy Center.”

It remains unclear whether Trump will participate in the ceremony as a guest of honor or take an active role in the event.

Recent speculation has suggested that Trump might receive FIFA’s newly introduced Peace Award, which the organization aims to grant to “individuals who have taken exceptional and extraordinary actions in support of peace, contributing to uniting the peoples of the world.”

The United States is co-hosting the tournament with Mexico and Canada. The 2026 World Cup, set to begin in June of that year, will be the largest edition in the history of the competition—founded in 1930—with 48 teams participating for the first time.

Trump recently threatened to pull matches from selected host cities if adequate security guarantees were not provided, specifically naming Seattle and Los Angeles. When asked how long it would take to move matches to another city, the U.S. president did not give a clear answer.

Trump has long claimed that crime in many U.S. cities is out of control and can only be managed under his leadership—assertions that are not supported by crime statistics.
