French authorities declared an orange alert in 23 regions on Thursday, as strong winds continue to affect many parts of the country.
France's meteorological agency, Meteo France, warned in a statement of intensifying winds, following a tornado that caused damage in the south of the country earlier this week.

The agency raised the number of regions placed under orange alert for strong winds from 12 to 23.
It said wind speeds could exceed 110 kilometers per hour, potentially accompanied by hailstones ranging from 2 to 5 centimeters in diameter.
The agency also warned of rainfall that could reach up to 30 millimeters per hour.
It forecast temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius, along with hot winds, on the French Mediterranean island of Corsica.
A tornado had struck the town of Pomas, in the Aude region of southern France, earlier this week, damaging more than 300 homes and injuring 40 people, two of them seriously.
