On Sunday, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the United States must immediately release President Nicolás Maduro and his wife and work to resolve the crisis in Venezuela through dialogue and negotiation.

The ministry added in a statement on its official website that the U.S. must also ensure the safety of Maduro and his wife, emphasizing that their detention violates international law and norms.
