Traffic Department: Improved Road Safety and 21.8% Drop in Fatalities in Q1

The Traffic Department at the Public Security Directorate announced a relative improvement in road safety levels during the first quarter of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025.

According to the department, fatalities per 10,000 vehicles decreased by 21.8% during the first quarter of this year compared to the same period last year.

It also reported a 10.7% decrease in injuries (minor, moderate, and severe) per 10,000 vehicles  the same period, reflecting an overall improvement in road safety.

The department attributed this progress to the positive impact of regulatory, enforcement, and awareness measures, along with improved driver behavior—particularly adherence to speed limits and increased attentiveness while driving.
