AMMAN — Crossing the street by pedestrians from unauthorized or dangerous places without caution is a wrong and dangerous behavior, particularly when considering that pedestrians accounted for the majority of fatalities in traffic accidents in 2022, totaling 36.1 percent. Article (38) of the amended Traffic Law specifies that a fine of JD15 shall be imposed on anyone committing the violation of "crossing the road in places not designated for pedestrians, despite their availability,” Alsaa reported. According to the details observed around the clock, the amended law places the responsibility for traffic on pedestrians if they fail to use designated crossing areas when available.
