Saudi Arabia: Unjustified Escalation in Hadramout and Al-Mahrah Has Harmed the Interests of the Yemeni People
Saudi Arabia on Thursday affirmed that the recent military movements carried out by the Southern Transitional Council in Yemen’s Hadramout and Al-Mahrah governorates were undertaken unilaterally, without the approval of the Presidential Leadership Council or coordination with the Coalition leadership. The moves led to unjustified escalation that has harmed the interests of the Yemeni people in all their segments, the Southern cause, and the efforts of the Coalition.اضافة اعلان

In a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Thursday morning, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: “Throughout the past period, the Kingdom has prioritized maintaining unity and exerting all efforts to reach peaceful solutions to address the situation in the two governorates.”

The statement explained that, within this framework, Saudi Arabia worked with the United Arab Emirates, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, and the Yemeni government to contain the situation. A joint military team from Saudi Arabia and the UAE was dispatched to put in place the necessary arrangements with the Southern Transitional Council in Aden, ensuring the return of its forces to their previous positions outside the two governorates and the handover of camps to the National Shield Forces and local authorities under organized procedures supervised by Coalition forces.

It added that these efforts are ongoing to restore the situation to its previous state, noting that the Kingdom continues to count on prioritizing the public interest by having the Southern Transitional Council take the initiative to end the escalation and ensure the smooth and urgent withdrawal of its forces from the two governorates.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry stressed the importance of cooperation among all Yemeni forces and components, urging restraint and the avoidance of any actions that could undermine security and stability and lead to undesirable consequences. It underscored the need to exert all efforts to restore social peace and security.

Saudi Arabia reaffirmed that the Southern cause is a just issue with historical and social dimensions, and that it will be resolved through all Yemeni parties sitting at the dialogue table as part of a comprehensive political solution in Yemen.

The Kingdom also emphasized its support for the Chairman and members of the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government in achieving security, stability, development, and peace in the Republic of Yemen.
