Syria strongly condemned the “criminal assault” carried out by an Israeli occupation patrol that infiltrated the town of Beit Jinn in the countryside of Damascus, attacking residents and their property—an incident that led to direct clashes as local residents confronted the incursion and forced the patrol to withdraw from Syrian territory.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said that after the failure of its incursion, the occupation forces launched a “brutal and deliberate” strike on Beit Jinn, calling it a full-fledged war crime. The attack resulted in a horrific massacre that claimed the lives of more than ten civilians, including women and children, and triggered large-scale displacement as the bombardment on residential homes continued.
Syria held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for this dangerous aggression and its resulting casualties and destruction, noting that the continuation of such criminal attacks threatens regional security and stability and reflects a systematic policy aimed at destabilizing the situation and imposing an aggressive status quo by force.
The ministry renewed its call on the UN Security Council, the United Nations, and the Arab League to act urgently to put an end to Israel’s aggressive policies and repeated violations against the Syrian people, and to take deterrent measures that ensure respect for international law, the UN Charter, Syria’s sovereignty, and its territorial integrity.
Syria affirmed that it will continue to exercise its legitimate right to defend its land and people by all means permitted under international law, stressing that these crimes will only strengthen its resolve to uphold its rights, sovereignty, and rejection of all forms of occupation and aggression.
