Chilean politician Verónica Michelle Bachelet’s mandate expired on Wednesday, and no successor has yet been named.

Nashif served as a deputy to Bachelet, who assumed office in Jordan in 2018.

UN’s Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said that he did not expect an announcement on Bachelet's successor on Wednesday.

Pending an announcement, starting September 1 Nada Youssef Al-Nashif, a deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights, will take up the task, he added.
