According to the official website of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority, Petra is considered one of the most important archaeological sites in the world and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

Located in southern Jordan, Petra is famous for its unique architecture, which was carved entirely into rose-colored rocks, earning it the title "The Rose City."

The flourishing city was established by the Nabataeans, a powerful Arab people with widespread influence in the region during the period extending from the 4th century BC to the 2nd century AD.

What sets Petra apart from other archaeological sites is that its main structures—including the royal tombs, giant facades, temples, and the famous Treasury (Al-Khazneh)—are all carved directly into the sandstone mountains, reflecting astonishing engineering ingenuity and a unique ability to tame nature and transform it into a fully integrated city.
