Ministry releases school infection rate numbers

AMMAN — The Secretary-General for Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Education Najwa Qabilat, said that the daily infection rate of COVID-19 at schools ranges between 0.15 percent and 0.018 percent of the total number of teachers and students, according to Al-Ghad News.اضافة اعلان

Qabilat explained that the percentage of infections inside schools since the beginning of the school year has not exceeded 0.4 percent, noting that a decision to reinstate remote learning requires a school reach an infection rate of 10 percent.

However, a number of students have been sent home due to infections, she said, noting that the number of students sent home had not exceeded 0.1 percent of class totals.  

She added that the ministry is constantly following up on the pandemic situation inside of schools of and that each school has a health official to follow up on the health of students.

The Ministry of Health is also conducting random tests at all of the schools in Jordan. So far, some 40,926 test have been administered.

Qabilat said that the situation at all of the schools inside the Kingdom is stable, noting that some 93.64 percent of teachers have received the vaccine.

She reiterated that the health protocol dictates that the decision to have face-to-face education at schools is irreversible. She also called on parents to not pay attention to rumors about the issue.
