The Saudi market received the largest share of exported live sheep, at 416,781 heads, followed by Qatar at 78,385, Kuwait at 75,315, Bahrain at 12,485, and the UAE at 2,721, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Ibtihal Khreishah, director of the Mafraq Agriculture Department, stated that the increase in exports to Gulf countries last year has greatly benefited livestock breeders, helping them to improve their income and livelihood.

The sheep were subject to procedures at the Sarra Veterinary Model Quarantine, ensuring they met the latest standards and health requirements demanded by foreign markets, including a 21-day quarantine period, health supervision, and immunization against epidemics, she said.

After these procedures, a disease-free certificate is issued, explained Khreishah.
