Shdeifat said on Monday that “it is better to cancel the double-shift system in these schools for the students’ safety", adding that this decision came after the directorate conducted an extensive study and came up with accurate statistics on the number of students in schools and the available spaces and facilities.

The directorate has 54,000 students, including 8,000 Syrians, in 167 schools.

The directorates of education for the Northeastern Badia and the Northwestern Badia are currently working to end the double-shift system as well.
