Jordan takes part in World Customs Organization meetings in Brussels

AMMAN — Jordan Customs Department (JCD), Maj. Gen. Jalal Qudah was elected Vice-Chair for the World Customs Organization (WCO) North of Africa, Near and Middle East (MENA) region for the third consecutive year, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.اضافة اعلان

The decision was taken during JCD’s participation at the 139th/140th Sessions of the WCO Council, the Organization’s highest decision-making body, in the presence of the WCO member customs administrations in the Belgian capital, Brussels, during June 20 to 25, according to a JCD statement on Thursday.

The discussions witnessed deliberations on implementing the WCO data strategy, reports on fragile contexts at borderlands, rules of origin, valuation, nomenclature and classification, compliance, and trade facilitation.

For the third year in a row, the JCD director was elected for this position, which was welcomed by all WCO’s members and customs departments, the statement pointed out.

The office of the WCO regional representative, which JCD currently holds, carries out multiple responsibilities in terms of coordination among the region’s countries and the Organization’s administration.
