Jordan ranked 64th in the Travel and Tourism Sector Competitiveness Index (TTDI) among 117 countries until May 2022.

The Tourism and Travel Development Index showed that Japan came in the first place, followed by the US, Spain, France, and Germany.

It indicated that the global tourism sector is showing signs of recovery in many parts of the world after having been severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The report showed that total international tourism and business travel is still below pre-pandemic levels, and that the sector’s recovery has been boosted by high vaccination rates, a return to a more open travel market, and increased demand for domestic and nature-based tourism.

The report also showed that the 117 countries accounted for about 96 percent of the global GDP for travel and tourism in 2020.

In the context of tourism among the countries of the Middle East and North Africa, the UAE ranked first regionally and 25 globally with a score of 4.5 points.

The index is based on many indicators, factors, and policies that lead to the development, sustainability and resilience of the travel and tourism sector, which contributes to economic and social development, including business standards, safety and health conditions, infrastructure, natural resources, and environmental, social, and economic pressures.
