Jordan Shipping Association: Port of Aqaba Operating Efficiently, Unaffected by Regional Tensions

AQABA – Mohammad Abdel-Hadi, Secretary of the Jordan Shipping Association (JSA), stated on Sunday that the Port of Aqaba has remained unaffected by regional developments so far and continues to operate with high efficiency, particularly when compared to other Gulf ports.اضافة اعلان

In an interview with Al-Mamlaka TV, Abdel-Hadi revealed that since the beginning of March, only 92 vessels have transited through the Strait of Hormuz, compared to approximately 1,400 vessels during the same period last year—a stark indicator of the broader decline in regional maritime traffic.

Abdel-Hadi noted expectations for a price increase in certain commodities due to rising fuel and ocean freight costs. However, he highlighted that global companies have submitted inquiries to consider the Port of Aqaba as a primary regional entry point for their operations.
