The developmental package includes upgrading infrastructure, operational systems, and service facilities. It also features a redesign of the terminal’s exterior facades and interior aesthetics to provide a more efficient and seamless travel experience, reinforcing Aqaba's position as a regional tourism hub.

Key Components of the Development Plan:
Architectural & Aesthetic Upgrades: Implementing a complete overhaul of the exterior facades to reflect a modern urban identity. This includes developing entrances, installing high-standard canopies, and comprehensive lighting improvements to boost operational efficiency and visual appeal.

Operational Systems Modernization: Upgrading core systems, including the SITA Check-in system and automated Baggage Handling Systems (BHS) to ensure faster and more accurate processing.

Safety and Security: Strengthening the airport's safety protocols by bolstering the fleet of fire trucks and rapid intervention vehicles, alongside constructing dedicated housing for security personnel.

Service Facilities: Establishing an external service facility to support high-efficiency ground operations and site landscaping to enhance the airport’s overall visual landscape.

Leadership Vision
The CEO of Aqaba Development Corporation, Hussein Safadi, stated that the modernization of KHIA is part of a broader development program across the city's vital sectors. "The airport provides the first impression of Aqaba for visitors and investors alike," Safadi noted. He added that the strategy aims to align the airport’s infrastructure with the rapid tourism and investment growth Aqaba is currently witnessing, ensuring a competitive edge regionally.

Enhancing Passenger Experience: "At Your Service"
In collaboration with the airport management, ADC has launched the "At Your Service" (Bekhidmatkom) initiative. A team of trained locals serves as "Aqaba Ambassadors" within the airport to assist passengers, provide procedural information, and offer tourism guidance via QR codes linked to the official tourism site (visitaqaba.com). The team also provides specialized support for the elderly and people with disabilities.

These updates are expected to significantly raise the airport's operational readiness, particularly with the increase in charter and low-cost carrier (LCC) flights connecting Aqaba to European and international markets.
