Jordan ranked 49th globally and second regionally in the Responsible AI Index for 2026, scoring 40.46 points out of 100 and surpassing the Middle East average of 32.07 points, according to data recently broadcast by the Global Center on AI Governance.

According to the data, Jordan ranked sixth within its income group and outperformed 64% of the 135 countries and territories covered by the Responsible AI Index.
The Global Center on AI Governance is an international research and evidence-based action center focused on inclusive and equitable approaches to the use and management of artificial intelligence technologies.
According to the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship's website, artificial intelligence is defined as the use of digital technology to create systems capable of performing tasks that simulate human abilities and work patterns, analyzing the surrounding environment, and learning from mistakes over time to make forecasts, predictions, recommendations, or support decision-making or carry out actions that affect real or virtual environments with a degree of autonomy.
Under the Jordanian AI Strategy 2023–2027, Jordan seeks to become a regional leader in AI and provide a unique, attractive technological and entrepreneurial environment for artificial intelligence to serve as an effective, supportive, and fundamental component of the national economy.
The data indicated that Jordan recorded its best performance in the "Labor and Skills" pillar, ranking 20th globally and first regionally with a score of 61.91 points, compared to a regional average of 34.73 points. The index highlighted Jordan's strength in reskilling, upskilling programs, and AI literacy.
Jordan ranked 34th globally and second regionally in the use of AI in public services, scoring 43.44 points—nearly 14.7 points ahead of the regional average. Its performance stood out in public procurement and capacity building for public sector employees.
Jordan scored 39.03 points in Trust and Safety, ranking 61st globally and seventh regionally, while securing 30.82 points in Ethics and Sustainability, placing 74th globally and seventh regionally.
Data from the Global Center on AI Governance provides a new international benchmark that focuses not only on AI adoption or government readiness, but also on governance, accountability, rights protection, and transparency. It demonstrates that Jordan possesses clear strengths in skills, public services, and cybersecurity.
According to the Jordanian Artificial Intelligence Strategy and Implementation Plan 2023–2027, AI is considered one of the most critical modern technologies significantly contributing to all sectors.
Multiple studies and reports expect AI's contribution to the global economy to increase by 5% to 25% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), depending on each country's technological level. This is in addition to the major role AI plays in enhancing entrepreneurship and innovation, embracing the future, actively creating new job opportunities in the labor market, improving the efficiency and quality of public government services, reducing their costs, and broadening their coverage to encompass all segments of society.
